A bone marrow transplant (also called a BMT) or cord blood transplant is a potentially life-saving treatment for some patients who have leukemia, lymphoma, or a genetic metabolic or immune system disorder. A bone marrow or cord blood transplant replaces a patient's unhealthy blood-forming cells with healthy cells from a donor.
