 Julia
looked out the window and shivered.
"It looks so
cold out there," she said.
"That's because
it is cold out there," her mother answered.
The
sky outside their window was gray and the limbs of the bare trees shook
in the wind. Icicles hung from the eaves of the house. About a foot
of snow was already on the ground.
The radio had announced
a winter storm warning because weathercasters were predicting severe
winter conditions. Now the twins and their mother were just waiting
for the blizzard to arrive. School had been cancelled, but their father
had gone to work.
"I
hope Dad gets home soon," said Robbie, Julia's twin brother. "He
could get stuck in the blizzard!"
The
children look worried and even when Sparky wagged his tail, they still
looked glum.
