The program will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Plains Region, 2312 E. Bannister Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. Reservations are not required, but seating is limited and is on first come-first serve basis.

Deborah Buckner will be portraying Mrs. Custer in a 30-minute program entitled, "The Custers in Kansas." Audience members will hear Mrs. Custer's "living history," of her days as an Army wife on the Kansas Plains, of the beginnings of the Seventh Cavalry, of earthquakes and tornadoes, of encounters with Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill Cody.

Deborah Buckner, a resident of Overland Park, is a licensed attorney and former state government lobbyist. She is happy to use those skills to share her childhood fascination with the Custers which has become an adult obsession.

Ms. Buckner's portrayal is part of on-going programming associated with a temporary display of documents entitled, Boots and Saddles: George Armstrong Custer and the Seventh Cavalry in the Records of the Central Plains Region, which is on view until August 31.
