Subject: 3,000 HSDB chemicals have been added to PubMed's LinkOut

All: The LinkOut ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/linkout/) feature of the National Library of Medicine's PubMed ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi) provides users with links to web-accessible resources, including full-text articles, consumer health information, and supplementary data related to a PubMed citation. These resources expand on the information in the citation. More than 3,000 chemical substances from NLM's Hazardous Substances Databank (HSDB http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?HSDB) were recently added to LinkOut by matching a substance's Chemical Abstracts Registry Number to any record in PubMed that contains the same Registry Number. Using LinkOut is easy. After you generate a list of citations from a PubMed search, select "Links" at the right of a citation's title, then "LinkOut" from the menu that appears (this option is not available for all citations). When available, HSDB links will appear under the "MOLECULAR BIOLOGY DATABASES: Structure: TOXNET" heading. The name of the substance does not appear in the PubMed record. When an HSDB link is selected, an HSDB page opens, containing the substance name. Example: Citation: Neuman MG, Cameron RG, Haber JA, Katz GG, Malkiewicz IM, Shear NH. "Inducers of cytochrome P450 2E1 enhance methotrexate- induced hepatocytoxicity." Clin Biochem. 1999 Oct;32(7):519-36. PMID: 10614715 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE] Related Articles, Links When "Links/LinkOut" is selected, the user will be directed to the page below. Selecting the "Hazardous Substance Data Bank from NLM Hazardous Substance Data Bank from NLM" link opens a new page. ·LITERATURE: *Aggregators: *CSIRO CSIRO EJC (*full-text PDF) oLibraries oPublishers/providers: *Elsevier Science *full-text online ·MOLECULAR BIOLOGY DATABASES: oStructure: *TOXNET Hazardous Substance Data Bank from NLM Hazardous Substance Data Bank from NLM For questions, please contact Stephanie Publicker, Biomedical Information Services Branch/SIS at [log in to unmask] or SIS Customer Service at [log in to unmask] . *********************************************************** *********************************************************** *********NLM-Tox-Enviro-Health-L NOTICE********* You are receiving this message as a subscribed member of NLM-Tox-Enviro-Health-L, an announcement list available from the National Library of Medicine, Division of Specialized Information Services (http://sis.nlm.nih.gov).
