Indianapolis, IN -- Tornado victims in Lawrence and Ellettsville have a few more days to visit the Disaster Recovery Centers in their communities. Disaster officials announced today these two locations will be closing Saturday evening, but assistance is still only a phone call away or available at one of the three centers that will remain open Mondays through Saturdays.

"These temporary centers offer applicants a chance to talk with recovery specialists in person," Patrick R. Ralston, Indiana State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) State Coordinating Officer, said. "But applicants who have questions on the recovery process can also get information by calling the toll-free application line 1-800-621-3362, or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired."

The centers that will be closing Saturday evening are located at:

The short-term disaster recovery center in Knox County at Blue Jean Center, 1242 Main Street, Monroe City, will be open through Wednesday, October 9, as originally scheduled.

"We try to locate the centers where large numbers of residents have applied for assistance to be convenient for applicants in answering any questions they may have," Bill Lokey, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Federal Coordinating Officer, said "But at this point in the recovery process it's time to adjust our locations and hours."

The three remaining centers will no longer be open on Sundays, but will continue to operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further notice. The centers are located at:

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) established a workshop in Posey County at the Wadesville Fire Department (corner of Princeton and Main) in Poseyville. SBA disaster loan staff will be available to help those who would like assistance with their application Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A FEMA representative will also be available to answer questions about disaster recovery assistance.
