FEMA Staff Available At Fssa Facilities Through This Saturday In Harrison, Jefferson And Jennings Counties

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- State and federal officials have announced that disaster recovery specialists, including representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will provide staff at Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) centers in Harrison, Jefferson and Jennings counties beginning this Wednesday.  Recovery specialists will be available to serve area residents who suffered property damage or loss as a result of the severe storms that struck in early September.

Recovery specialists will be at the following locations from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1 through Saturday, October 4:

Harrison County
2201 Concord Avenue, Suite 120
Corydon, IN 47112

Jefferson County
493 West Hutchinson Lane, Suite A
Madison, IN 47250

Jennings County
1171 North State Street
North Vernon, IN 47265

Before visiting one of these locations homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the September storms are encouraged to apply for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).  Those with speech or hearing impairment may call TTY 1-800-462-7585. Applicants also may register on-line at www.fema.gov. 

Officials remind residents who have filled out damage reports for state and local governments or voluntary agencies that they must apply directly with FEMA to be eligible for federal assistance

After applying with FEMA, people may visit any one of the above locations to learn more about state and federal assistance programs and services.  Recovery specialists at each location will also be able to provide information about an individual’s application status.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
