INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Hoosiers get a chance to learn about disaster preparedness and recovery at the Indiana State Fair, August 6-17 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) and other State and federal recovery staff will be on hand at the fair to answer questions.
Community Education and Outreach (CEO) teams wind up their series of location visits to county fairs, libraries and home improvement stores with their presence at the State Fair.
CEO teams provide flood-recovery advice on rebuilding to avoid future storm damages, mold cleanup, information on flood insurance and other mitigation activities.
The booth, located in the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) pavilion, will be staffed and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, throughout the duration of the fair.
Information provided will include: preparedness and mitigation brochures, disaster activity books for children, FEMA publications on elevation, mold cleanup and prevention, and brochures on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). FEMA mitigation staff along with a representative from the Small Business Administration (SBA) will be available for questions at the booth. The Indiana Family Social Services Administration's (FSSA) Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) will be providing information on crisis counseling at their booth in the Toyota Expo Hall, booth number 609.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
