FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers Closing, Transitioning to Disaster Loan Outreach Centers

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The three FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Bartholomew, Morgan and Vigo Counties will close Friday, August 8, reopening at the same locations on Monday, August 11 as U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs).

The Outreach Centers will be open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Individuals with SBA questions also may call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955, TTY 1-800-877-8339 or visit SBA's Web site www.sba.gov

Applicants can continue to reach federal recovery experts online at www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Both lines are operational from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. M-F; Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. FEMA will have a presence at the DLOCs for questions.

Applicants with FEMA questions can call the FEMA Helpline which provides information and can be used to make a change to an existing application. The Helpline number and the FEMA registration number are the same, 1-800-621- 3362, TTY 1-800-462-7585. FEMA encourages all registered disaster victims to call the FEMA Helpline to get correct information.  By keeping in contact with FEMA through the Helpline, disaster victims can help to ensure the process for aid flows smoothly.

August 11, 2008 is the last day applications will be accepted for Individual Assistance. Loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for disaster-related losses to real and personal property also must be submitted by that date.
