SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Residents and business owners in Calhoun and Rock Island counties who suffered losses or damages as a result of the severe storms and flooding on June 1 and continuing can meet face-to-face with disaster recovery specialists at new state/federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located in their counties.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and other disaster recovery specialists will be available to meet with disaster victims to answer questions and provide recovery information.

The locations of the new DRCs are:

Residents can visit any of the nine DRCs located throughout the state. Those locations without specific open dates, are open indefinitely until further notice. All DRC/MDRCs are closed Sundays. The other locations are:

Disaster victims are urged to register for assistance before visiting a DRC by calling toll-free1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired. The FEMA registration/helpline numbers are operational everyday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (local time), until further notice.

Once applicants have registered, FEMA recovery specialists at the DRCs can check the status of their application, answer questions about a claim, or identify information needed by FEMA to continue processing a claim. Recovery specialists also can supply contact information for other programs that may be able to help.

The SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations. These loans are to repair or replace homes or personal property and to assist businesses damaged by the severe storms and flooding.

SBA representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the SBA disaster loan program, assist applicants complete their disaster loan application and accept the completed application for processing.  Returning the completed application is an essential part of the disaster recovery process. Individuals who do not qualify for a loan will be referred to FEMA for grant consideration.

Anyone not able to visit a DRC should call the SBA Customer Service Center from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, at 1-800-659-2955 for information and assistance. Applicants also may visit the SBA Web site at www.sba.gov or by e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
