Maricopa County Board Approves Marina

(Phoenix) The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has approved an initiative to begin construction of a public marina at Lake Pleasant Regional Park.

The privately-funded $20 million project will begin construction in mid-2006, and is scheduled to be open to the public in January 2007. Lake Pleasant Marina Partners has been awarded the 35-year contract, which is estimated to bring nearly $5 million in revenue for the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation department.

The new facility will include both dry and wet boat storage, fueling station, convenience store, watercraft rental, boat repairs, and restrooms.
