  Resource Management Issues:
Kelp Harvesting

Kelp is harvested in the Sanctuary at a variety of locations, to sustain aquaculture operations and to be turned into a variety of products. MBNMS conducted a thorough evaluation of the kelp harvesting issue in 2000, and provided detailed recommendations to California Department of Fish and Game. The Department in 2001 adopted many of these recommendations.
