The Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) grant program is administered by FEMA to provide a consistent source of funding to States, Territories, Tribes, and local governments for pre-disaster mitigation planning and projects primarily addressing natural hazards. Funding these plans and projects reduces overall risks to the population and structures, while also reducing the reliance on funding from actual disaster declarations.
Approximately $47 million is available for competitive grants for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2006 PDM program. PDM grants are to be awarded on a competitive basis and without reference to state allocations, quotas, or other formula-based allocation of funds. The highest scoring eligible planning and project sub-applications evaluated by the National Evaluation panel, in accordance with the FY 2006 PDM Program Guidance, were selected for further review.
FEMA awarded FY 2006 PDM grants to the following States, Territories, and Federally-recognized Indian Tribes for pre-disaster mitigation activities. As pre-award activities, including environmental/historic preservation reviews, are completed, additional grants will be awarded. This list will be updated periodically.
