About the Conference:
This conference, held March 24-27, 2002, brought together public health professionals to encourage the exchange of scientific and public health information on global emerging infectious disease issues. The program included plenary sessions and symposia with invited speakers, presentations on emerging infections, and oral poster presentations. Major topics included current work on surveillance, epidemiology, research, communication and training, bioterrorism, and prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases, both in the United States and abroad.
The CE credit for this course expires on April 27, 2005. TARGET AUDIENCE: This conference, building on the second conference held in 2000, brought together more than 2500 researchers, clinicians, laboratorians, veterinarians and other health professionals from all 50 states and over 70 countries. Having the conference available on the web makes the conference available to an even larger audience. ADDITIONAL INFO: Conference participants discussed ideas and possible solutions to the problems of new and reemerging infectious diseases, including potential threats presented by bioterrorism.
