"Severe Weather Criteria"

Severe Weather Criteria as defined by the NWS
HAIL |
0.75 inches or larger |
TORNADO |
any size, any strength |
WIND |
gusts greater than 58mph (50kts) |
FLASH FLOODING |
a rapid rise of any river, creek, etc. |
In addition to any of the above official severe weather
criteria, the NWS in Denver would appreciate reports
on any of the following weather events.
Hail stones 0.5 inches or larger. |
Wind gusts greater than 50 miles per hour. |
Any damage caused by wind, tornadoes, hail, or flooding. |
Excessive rainfall that may lead to flooding or flash flooding.
(1" an hour for urban areas or 1.5" an hour for rural areas) |
