Flash floods are especially dangerous because they can occur within a few minutes or
hours of excessive rainfall.
So what can you do to prepare?
Know your area's flood risk and evacuation routes. Be familiar with the land features
where you live, work, and play. It may be in a low area, near a drainage ditch or small
stream, or below a dam.
Make advance plans of what you will do and where you will go in a flash flood emergency.
