Donatello at Close Range

April 3-June 15, 1987

Overview: Color transparencies documented the restoration of stucco reliefs created in the Old Sacristy of the church of San Lorenzo, Florence, Italy, by the Italian Renaissance sculptor Donatello. The exhibition included full-scale reproductions showing the works of art and text explaining restoration techniques and discoveries.

Sir John Pope-Hennessy presented a lecture on April 3 in connection with the exhibition. The restoration of the works of art was supported by a Kress Foundation grant to the World Monuments Fund. The exhibition was also supported by the Kress Foundation.
