Ellsworth Kelly: The Years in France, 1948-1954
Overview: 51 paintings and collages, 72 drawings, and 28 photographs came from public and private collections in America and Europe. These works illustrated the artist's evolution from representational art to sophisticated colorful abstraction during the 6 years he lived in Paris. Jack Cowart, curator of 20th-century art at the National Gallery, and Alfred Pacquement, of the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris, France, were co-curators of the exhibition.
