Belgian Government Loan

February 7, 1943-January 1946

Overview: 10 important Flemish paintings from the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, other Belgian museums, and private lenders were shown with 15th- to 17th-century works from the Gallery's collection. The works on loan had been sent to the United States by the Belgian government for the Worcester-Philadelphia exhibition in 1939. The paintings could not be returned because of the war and were retained here for safekeeping.

Location: Main Floor, Galleries 39, 42
