The noaasis.noaa.gov domain is maintained by the Direct Services Division (DSD). DSD operates within the Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD). The Direct Services Division is the United States operator for the international Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT) system, utilizing NOAA satellites, and dedicated to saving persons in distress on land or water. The Division also administers the GOES Data Collection (DCS) and Argos Data Collection and Locations Systems used by researchers, governmental and environmental organizations worldwide. The Division also provides operational information and support for the worldwide direct readout community who are given free, unrestricted access to the scientific data directly from the NOAA-operated satellites.
