The Center for Legislative Archives

Apply for an Internship
with the Center for Legislative Archives

Students interested in an internship with the Center for Legislative Archives must submit the following:

  • cover letter
  • résumé
  • two letters of recommendation
  • college transcript (does not need to be official)
  • 10-15 page writing sample

The deadline for submitting a summer internship application is April 1. We accept fall/winter/spring interns by rolling admission. Please submit your application materials at least 6-8 weeks prior to your proposed start date. Given heightened security procedures for federal mail entering Washington DC, unexpected delays may occur in mail delivery. To ensure timely arrival of your application, we encourage you to submit your application by email, fax, or mail with guaranteed delivery (by certified mail or by private carriers such as UPS or Federal Express).

You may email or fax the required elements to the Intern Coordinator at the address below. If sending your application by fax, please note the total pages faxed on a cover sheet, and include daytime contact information.

Letters of recommendation may be faxed, emailed, or mailed to the Intern Coordinator directly by your references. Please keep in mind that your application will not be considered complete until letters of recommendation have been received.
