US President Barack Obama has made a goal of improving America's image abroad. During President George W. Bush's two terms, favorable opinions of the United States plummeted in many countries. David Axelrod, Senior Advisor to President Obama, says that by engaging "the people of the world" the new president is turning those views around, and that, as he puts it, "anti-Americanism isn't cool anymore."

During a recent trip to Europe, Mr. Obama spoke in Strasbourg, France, and called for new attitudes on both sides of the Atlantic.

Will the president's apologies for what he calls America's arrogance be met with new and positive views of the United States? Will Mr. Obama's personal popularity abroad translate into good feelings toward America? We'll get answers to these and other questions in this edition of ON THE LINE.
