ATSDR to Discuss Nuclear Fuel Services Site Findings At Public Meetings Aug. 30 and 31

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will host two public meetings to discuss the agency's evaluation of possible environmental contaminants surrounding the Nuclear Fuel Services site in Tennessee.

The meetings will be held:

Aug 31
Erwin Town Hall

Erwin, TN
6-8 p.m.

Members of the community are invited to stop by at any time during the meetings and speak with an ATSDR staff one-on-one about ATSDR�s evaluation related to the Nuclear Fuel Services site.

ATSDR was asked to address the community's concerns related to cancer, air and water quality surrounding the site. The agency has gathered community health concerns, evaluated the existing environmental and public health data, and has reported the findings in a draft public health assessment (PHA).

Community Input Needed for Government Nuclear Fuel Services Study, TN

Citizens concerned about possible health effects from contaminants released into the air, groundwater and surface water in the vicinity of the Nuclear Fuel Services site in Erwin have until April 1 to send them to the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry. The federal public agency will review the concerns, evaluate the existing environmental and public health data, and report the findings in a public health assessment.
