The signatures are that of the Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute, the prize-awarding institution that administers the Nobel Prizes for Physiology or Medicine. The Karolinska Institute, whose name in Swedish is on the left hand side of the diploma, is Sweden's only university for medicine and is part of the larger Nobel Foundation, which handles the entire Nobel Prize administration.
