Springfield, MO -- State, federal, local and voluntary agencies continue to help Missouri residents affected by the recent tornadoes, severe storms, and flooding.
Recovery services summary at close of business Thursday, May 15, 2003:
- 3,717 individuals have called the toll free number (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or the TTY number 800-462-7585. Applications are taken by phone seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- More than $2.8 million has been approved by FEMA to disaster-affected Missourians.
- Of that $2.8 million, $1,294,681 is for housing assistance and $1,535,528 to help those affected by the severe weather cover other eligible expenses, such as replacing personal property.
- 2,115 applications have been issued by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to homeowners and 597 applications to businesses.
- Disaster Recovery Centers are now open in Battlefield, Carl Junction, Mt. Vernon, Pierce City, Stockton, and Kansas City. Those affected by the disaster are encouraged to visit a recovery center to talk face-to-face with a recovery specialist and to check on the status of their applications.
