The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) established The African Desk to develop a partnership program with the African Meteorological and Climatic Services. The African Desk produces precipitation maps, and monthly wind and sea surface temperature maps; issues seasonal rainfall outlooks and assessments, and 10-day weather summary that are used in the Famine Early Warning System (FEWS).
