First Army Reserve OCONUS Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team to Activate Mid-September
The 7th Civil Support Command will activate the 773rd Civil Support Team, a new full-time Army Reserve unit in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Sept. 16.  In preparation for future operations the 773rd CST is developing partnerships with various stateside based Civil Support Teams to include Nevada and New Mexico.
 
National Guard Joins Forces with the Army Reserve Employer Partnership
In a move the first of its kind, the Army Reserve struck a partnership with the National Guard to better provide employment opportunities for Soldiers returning home from deployment. 
 
Civil Affairs Soldiers Train Iraqi Firemen to Handle Hazardous Materials
There are two lines of tape, one green and one red. Behind the red tape is a Soldier contaminated by a hazardous material. The Iraqi firefighters only have minutes to react, carefully moving the casualty, to the other side of the green tape, while at the same time remembering to clean from their own hands and suits' hazardous material.
 
Engineers Receive Speciality Training at National Training Center
For nearly 100 combat engineers here the training opportunity means not only sharpening their current skills, but gaining a new Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as well.
 
Staff Sgt. Aaron Butler and Spec. Shiloh Becher Named Best Warriors
The Army Reserve named Staff Sgt. Aaron D. Butler, 4225th Medical Hospital in Helena, Montana and Spec. Shiloh Becher, 461st Engineer Company, Fargo, North Dakota Best Warriors for 2009. The two were chosen NCO and Soldier of the Year for the Army Reserve after a gueling week-long competition against 28 other competitors.
 
Best Warrior Competition Hits Half-way Mark - only 24 Soldiers Left
Physical fitness, urban war-fighting orienteering and weapons qualifications were just a few tasks for the 28 competitors looking to be crowned the top Soldier and non-commissioned officer for the 206,000-member Army Reserve Command. Down now to 24 after four fall out. 
 
Army Reserve Hosts America's Future Leaders
Headquarters, U.S. Army Reserve Command hosted more than 150 young leaders from across the country in July 2009.  The students were attending a youth leadership conference hosted by LeadAmerica at the Military College of Georgia at North Georgia College and State University.

Soldiers from across the 359th Signal Brigade competed for the Best Warrior title here on May 15-16.  To earn the title, seven Soldiers from the five subordinate units competed in: rifle marksmanship; physical fitness; written essay; military-style board; land navigation; and several Warrior Tasks.
 
Army Reserve Chief Seeks Input From Troops in Afghanistan
Stultz sought out soldiers wherever he could find them, opting for impromptu encounters he hoped might elicit more candid viewpoints. Once, for example, as he was riding along in a Humvee, Stultz got his driver to make a sudden stop so he could chat with a group of soldiers whose convoy had pulled to the roadside.
 
Army Reserve Soldier Joins Small Group of Silver Star Recipients
On the morning of May 21, 2008, 17 Army Reserve Soldiers of the 420th Engineer Brigade Personal Security Detail (PSD) were traveling through the mountains of Afghanistan in a convoy of four Humvees.  Specialist David Hutchinson rode in the third Humvee, manning a grenade launcher.

Army Reserve Soldier and Honolulu Police Sergeant Saves Woman From Suicide Attempt

Today he is called "Spidey." Some even call him "Indiana Jones." These are new titles for David Yamamoto, a Honolulu police sergeant and an Army Reserve command sergeant major, after he leapt from the fourth floor of a five-story Waikiki parking structure to save a woman attempting suicide in September 2008.

 
Army Reserve Soldiers Train 89th MP Brigade for Iraq Deployment
MCGREGOR RANGE, N.M. --In unprecented cooperation, Soldiers from two previously deployed brigades (the Army Reserve's 300th MP BDE and the National Guard's 177th MP BDE) as well as the currently deployed Army Reserve 11th MP BDE, came together to train the 89th MP BDE, headed to Iraq.
 
Annual Warfighter Seminar for Army Engineers
The 412th Theater Engineer Command of Vicksburg, Miss., will host its thirtieth annual Warfighter Seminar 11-15 June 09, at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The Warfighter conference is an annual, reserve engineer hosted seminar designed to facilitate interaction and knowledge exchange between joint and combined Department of Defense agencies with an engineering focus.
 
National Capitol Reenlistment Ceremony Honors 60 Army Reserve Soldiers from across the Nation
 Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, chief, Army Reserve, re-enlisted 60 Soldiers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) at the Capitol building this morning to mark the 101st birthday of the Army Reserve.  Soldiers from every state and U.S. territory were hand-selected for their accomplishments and overwhelming dedication to the Army Reserve.  Included were Bronze Star recipients and veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.
 
Memorial Honors Fallen Army Reserve Sgt. Lawrence A. Roukey
An Army Post Office on FOB Prosperity was dedicated March 20, 2009, to the memory of Army Reserve Sgt. Lawrence A. Roukey, who was killed in Baghdad on April 26, 2004.

Hundreds of injured high school students cry for help.  City police and fire department sirens wail.  A SWAT team hunts for the mustard gas attacker.  A U.S. Army Reserve Hazmat team initiates a decontamination sweep.  In one morning, a community is in ciaos, and scared.
