Horizon Health Education Program Award
The Tuberculosis Education and Training Network (TB ETN) has been awarded
the Horizon Health Education Program Award by the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention's (CDC) Public Health Education and Promotion Network (PHEP-Net).
As part of the 2004 Excellence in Health Education Awards, the Horizon Award
is given to a program developed by CDC or in collaboration with CDC partners,
which has been in existence for 2-4 years, and exhibits significant potential
to substantially and positively affect the practice of health education. The
award was presented to TB ETN at Health Education Day on Friday, October 22,
2004.
PHEP-Net is an employee organization for health educators of CDC and the
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). Each year PHEP-Net
sponsors the Excellence in Health Education Awards to honor outstanding health
education programs developed by CDC or in collaboration with CDC partners.
The awards are presented at the annual CDC Health Education Day.
TB ETN was nominated for the award because of its significant growth and
impact since its inception in 2001. There are now 300 members in the network
representing 48 states within the U.S. and a growing international representation.
The network provides opportunities to improve skills, abilities, and knowledge
of available resources of TB educators and promotes collaborative efforts
between TB programs and other organizations conducting TB education and training.
TB ETN has increased the visibility, momentum, and impact of TB education
and training efforts and raised awareness about the importance of education
and training as an essential part of a TB program. CDC TB ETN representatives
were honored to accept the award on behalf of TB ETN and would like to thank
both the past and current Steering Committee members, the subcommittee co-chairs
and members, and TB ETN members for their efforts in making TB ETN an exceptional
health education program!
