The Harold Varmus Papers
- Title:
- Synthesis of ASV DNA - 1976 Version
High resolution version (4,339,500 Bytes)
- Description:
- This lecture slide depicts how the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) provirus is synthesized from the RNA (ribonucleic acid) of Avian Sarcoma Virus, and how the provirus attains its circular shape prior to integration into the genome of host cells. The provirus is a crucial stage in the life cycle of retroviruses, which integrate themselves into cellular DNA after forming a DNA version of the RNA that carries the virus's genes.
