Flu Virus

Influenza (“flu”) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses.

Each year a flu vaccine (flu shot or nasal spray) is made that works well to stop the spread of seasonal flu. Getting vaccinated each year is the best way to protect yourself from seasonal flu.

Seasonal Flu is different from the H1N1 Flu (previously swine flu). For more information about H1N1 Flu go to http://www.publichealth.va.gov/swineflu/.

For Veterans and the Public
