Summer Honors Program
Treasury offers a volunteer summer internship program for law students. Students selected as Summer Honors Interns will work at Treasury headquarters in Washington, DC, in the offices of the Assistant General Counsel for International Affairs, the Assistant General Counsel for Banking and Finance, the Assistant General Counsel for Enforcement and Intelligence, the Assistant General Counsel for General Law, Ethics & Regulation, or in the Office of the Chief Counsel of the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
These internships offer an opportunity to improve research and writing skills, to observe the practice of law in a major cabinet agency, and to learn about substantive areas of the law by dealing with issues faced by Treasury lawyers and their clients. We expect a six-week minimum commitment from our Summer Honor Interns.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury legal division is committed to attracting candidates from diverse backgrounds and experience with first-rate academic and professional credentials. We seek candidates who possess a strong work ethic, demonstrate a genuine interest in the mission of the Treasury Department, exhibit a work attitude of cooperation, dedication, and integrity and are comfortable working with and presenting views to senior lawyers and policymakers at Treasury. Treasury Legal Division interns must inspire confidence through substantive excellence, effective oral and written communication, critical analysis, and the exercise of good judgment. We look for team builders with strong interpersonal skills, who are adept at building positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
