The Office of Development Policy
< BACK
The Office of Development Policy (IDP) is charged with setting and helping to advance Treasury and US Government policy priorities aimed at promoting economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries. One particular focus is working with governments and development institutions to define measurable results methodology and indicators that enable the public to track the use of donor and other resources to make sure they are being used for the most effective purposes. IDP provides policy advice and technical support to other offices in International Affairs, particularly those working on the multilateral development banks, but also, as needed, the IMF, regional country offices, and functional offices. IDP provides staff support to the Secretary of the Treasury in his capacity as a member of the Board of Directors of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. IDP also provides support for advancing international policy priorities through international and regional fora, such as the G7/G8, APEC, and the Summit of the Americas . Current focal areas include aid effectiveness, public expenditure management, financing mechanisms and instruments, infrastructure, and social sectors including health and education.
