National Archives Presents Documentary on Life During World War II
Washington, DC . . .The National Archives and Records Administration presents a screening of "The Price of Peace," a documentary on life during World War II at noon on Wednesday, December 16 at the National Archives at College Park and at noon on Friday, December 18 at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Combining original footage from the National Archives, personal correspondence and still photos, this documentary paints a bittersweet portrait of life during World War II. The recollections of an aspiring doctor sidetracked by war, a child's letters to her father, and the account of a young man's journey from Appalachia to Berlin – each story conveys the aspirations and disappointments of wartime. Produced by North Star Productions in 1997.
The screening will be held in the theater of the National Archives Building, Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, and in the auditorium of the National Archives at College Park, which is located at 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD. The program is free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the National Archives at College Park. Please Note: The theater at the downtown National Archives Building is equipped with a system that allows the hearing-impaired to use a set of headphones, or neck loop and a small receiver, to enhance the volume of the public address system.
