Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:

 

            Rear Adm. (lower half) William D. French, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Southwest, San Diego, Calif. French is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Marianas/U.S. Pacific Command Representative, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau/commander, U.S. Naval Forces Marianas, Guam.

 

            Rear Adm. (lower half) Lawrence S. Rice will be assigned as deputy commander, Joint Warfighting Center/director, Standing Joint Force Headquarters, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Rice is currently serving as director, Environmental Readiness Division, N45, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
