The Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS) research efforts focus on evaluating ecosystem health, collecting data on living marine resources, assessing the impact of human activities, implementing effective resource management strategies, and increasing understanding of the importance of the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary participates in research projects by combining efforts with organizations such as UC Santa Barbara, USGS, NOAA Coastal Ocean Program, NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, the National Park Service, the Department of Fish and Game, REEF, PIER, CIES, and MARE. CINMS provides a staff with a wealth of expertise as well as the use of our research vessels the R/V Shearwater ,the R/V Xantu, and our Seawolf aircraft in moving forward with our commitment to furthering research and understanding.
