The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is seeking public comment on the NIOSH Childhood Agricultural Injury Prevention Initiative, summarized in the NIOSH draft document entitled: NIOSH Childhood Agricultural Injury Prevention Initiative: Progress and Proposed Future Activities.  NIOSH is seeking public comment  in order to ensure the program is meeting the needs of stakeholders (e.g., national youth agricultural injury prevention organizations, agricultural youth injury prevention groups, individuals, etc.) and other interested members of the public, to identify ways in which the program can be improved to increase its impact on the safety of children in agriculture, and to identify if the program is addressing the most pressing issues and areas of childhood agricultural injury prevention.

Summary

The document provides a summary of the progress, both extramural and intramural, and proposed future activities of the NIOSH Childhood Agricultural Injury Prevention Initiative.  Extramural progress is highlighted by providing a summary of the research projects funded through Requests for Assistance (RFAs) during the first decade of the Initiative.  Intramural projects are similarly identified and summarized in the draft document.  Proposed future activities are drafted for public comment.
