New Online Adjustment User Services (November 23, 2004)

This new addition to the Geodetic Toolkit allows users to submit their data to NGS and have it processed by the popular ADJUST software that performs a least squares adjustment on horizontal, vertical angle, and/or GPS observations. The utilities include data checking programs.

NGS's Remote Sensing Division Posts Hurricane Images Online (October 1, 2004)

NGS posted several thousand aerial images of the US Gulf Coast and Florida Coastline showing the destruction caused by hurricanes Ivan and Jeanne.

New User Friendly CORS Web Service (August 27, 2004)

NGS has made a major revision to the User Friendly CORS web service. The primary difference to the user is the ability to get data for the current day, allowing you to collect your field data and process it using CORS data on the same day. ... more info

NGS Height Modernization Activities (August 13, 2004)

Height Modernization is a program within NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) that provides accurate height information by integrating Global Positioning System (GPS) technology with existing survey techniques. See the Height Modernization web page.

The National Readjustment (July 16, 2004)

The Readjustment of the National Spatial Reference System is scheduled to commence in June 2005 and is scheduled for completion February 10, 2007.

A Geodesist's View of the Ionosphere (January 8, 2004)

Precise ionosphere models are very important for accurate positioning by GPS by removing the current distance dependent effects of the ionosphere. Such models would allow single frequency L1 positioning over long distances and provide a useful aid for rapid ambiguity resolution.

NGS Releases New Geoid Models: (January 1, 2004)

GEOID03 and USGG2003 replace the GEOID99 and G99SSS models, respectively, for the conterminous United States. Look for models covering other U.S. regions late in 2004.

GPS & the Solar Storm: (November 21, 2003)

NGS produced AVI Videos that graphically depicts the major solar storm as it swept North America the end of October 2003. The data represented in these movies were derived using GPS technology.
