The Director of National Intelligence
September 21, 2007

Dear Colleagues,

As you celebrate the Agency's 60th anniversary, I want to take this opportunity to convey to you my deepest gratitude for all that you have accomplished for our nation.

Since my return to the Intelligence Community, no other aspect of our business has captured more of my attention, than the tremendous work that is done by the officers who serve in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Be it the world-class operations that you lead and execute, the best-in-class technology and services that you provide in support of HUMINT activities, or the brilliant analysis and reporting that you produce in support of our leaders and policymakers your contributions are truly "central" to the nation's intelligence capabilities. Your willingness to deploy anytime and anywhere to defend our way our life is an inspiration to us all and a true testament to an Agency with a heritage that is second to none.

Intelligence has always been integral to our nation's security and the CIA has always been in the forefront of the Intelligence Community. On this occasion of the CIA's 60th anniversary, our Community salutes you for your dedication and sincerely thanks you for your service. We are, and always will be, eternally grateful and I thank you from a grateful nation.

Sincerely,

/sig/
J. M. McConnell
