The exhibition of 53 sculptures was the first major survey of Tilman Riemenschneider's work in nearly 70 years. Altarpiece sculpture, cult figures, and objects for private devotion were included. A selection of sculpture by such predecessors and contemporaries as Niclaus Gerhaert van Leyden and Veit Stoss was shown as well.
