Residence Life

University houses provide unique living opportunities, ranging from studio-style living to six-bedroom houses. These well-maintained houses are located in great neighborhoods adjacent to campus and are offered at economical prices. Students pay a fixed monthly rent, so you do not have to worry about fluctuations in price. Instead, you can focus energy where it needs to be…on your education! Students must be at least sophomore status (at least 29 earned credit hours) to live in University houses.

Billing
Billing for the Houses is set once at the beginning of the fall semester, spring semester and during the summer. Pay your bill with one payment or, for a small fee, make monthly payments in the Student Account Services Office. The houses lease for 12 months, beginning June 1 and ending May 31 of the following year. If you move into the facility before or after June 1, rent will be prorated to the week residency began.

Amenities
General maintenance and lawn care are provided along with electricity, gas, water and trash service. Some houses include additional amenities such as dishwashers, garbage disposals, and/or washer and dryer hook-ups.

Honors Houses
Each year, three houses are designated as Honors Houses to encourage positive academic interaction among Friends University students and the community and to create quiet, educational living facilities for qualified upperclass students. Honors Houses require a minimum occupancy of three students. Each individual must complete an application and submit a letter of recommendation from a Friends University faculty or staff member to be considered for Honors House residency. If accepted, each student must maintain a 3.0 GPA through the academic year.

Students interested in living in an Honors House must request an application from the Residence Life office and attend a mandatory orientation, usually held during the spring semester. The Resident Manager selects the most qualified applications and monitors the participants to ensure students are adhering to their mission.
