Hear about Dr. Stillman's research in climate change and the physiological responses of rocky intertidal crabs and lagoon corals to thermal fluctuations and extremes.
April 18, 2009 The 2009 Sanctuary Currents Symposium titled "Back to the Future - Preserving the Sanctuary by Exploring its Past" will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, California from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Special sessions will be led by underwater marine archaeologists, oceanographers, marine biologists and geophysicists. To underscore the importance of technology in ocean science research and exploration, participants will build their own working miniature remotely operated vehicle as an evening activity. This will be the sixth annual educational youth summit organized by NABS.

Participants will engage in activities that support inquiry-based, experiential learning in the classroom and at the beach. Teachers will learn how to design their own investigations in the field to help them to better understand real world marine science.
