NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Upcoming workshops on Advisory Base Flood Elevations and Increased Cost of Compliance, known as ICC, are open to officials and the general public from all parishes in Louisiana.
The public is invited to attend in the evening from 7 – 8:30 p.m. An afternoon segment with technical information for elected officials, building officials, adjusters, insurance agents, and lenders will be held from 3 – 5 p.m.
ICC coverage is provided under insurance policies from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) of the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). ICC enables eligible flood insurance policyholders who reside in high-risk flood hazard areas to receive up to $30,000 to assist with the cost of bringing their homes or businesses into compliance with local floodplain ordinances.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
