IRS Grants Tax Relief for Washington Flood Victims

 

SEA 03-61  November 14, 2003

SEATTLE — The Internal Revenue Service today announced special tax relief for Washington residents in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by severe storms and flooding during the period Oct. 15-23, 2003.

The disaster area counties are: Chelan, Clallam, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Mason, Okanogan, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston and Whatcom.

  • The FTD Penalty Waiver Period for employment and excise tax deposits is Oct. 15-Oct. 23, 2003.
  • The Extension Period for returns and other tax payments is Oct. 15 through Jan. 9, 2004.
  • The Disaster Designation for this area is “October Storms/WA Floods” — taxpayers mark certain relief-related forms with this designation.
