Welcome!

The Northeast Region Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Advisory Committee (EEO/DAC) was established in 1999 to observe and monitor the Northeast Region's progress on EEO and diversity issues. The committee advises the directors of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center and the Regional Office, identifying problems and suggesting ways the region can be more  effective at managing diversity and complying with EEO laws.

Our goals are twofold:

EEO/Affirmative Action Goal

To ensure equal employment opportunities for employees and job applicants without regard to race, national origin, age, sex, color, religion or disability. We must aggressively strive to ensure the entry and growth of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities into our workforce until it is clear that equality of employment is fact as well as an ideal.
[From the NMFS EEO Policy Statement, December 15, 1993]

Diversity Goal

To create an inclusive, supportive, open, challenging and innovative work environment. Through this positive and creative work environment, NOAA will become an employer of choice and reach our full potential to better accomplish the present and future work of NOAA.
[From the NOAA Diversity Plan, January 23, 1997]
