    bullet graphicMay 5 (just released)  "Prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome Among Adults, 20 Years of Age and Older, by Sex, Age, Race/Ethnicity and BMI: United States, 2003-2006" - Metabolic syndrome increases a person's risk of developing cardiovascular disease.  This study from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey examines this condition among adults age 20 and over, looking at a number of risk factors including abdominal obesity, hypertension, and hyperglycemia by different demographic variables.

    bullet graphicMay 6 (tentative)  "Wireless Substitution: Early Release of Estimates From the National Health Interview Survey, July-December 2008" - Preliminary results from the July-December 2008 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) indicate that the number of American homes with only wireless telephones continues to grow.  This study is conducted biannually.

    bullet graphicMay 12 (tentative)  "One-Third of U.S. Adults Taking Steps for a Healthy Heart" - This Data Brief looks at the prevalence of persons engaging in multiple behaviors commonly recommended to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Data come from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

    bullet graphicMay 13 (tentative)  "Changing Patterns of Non-marital Childbearing in the U.S." - This Data Brief looks at trends in unmarried childbearing by age, race and ethnicity, and also examines international comparisons between several European nations, Scandinavian countries and the U.S.

    bullet graphicMay 20 (tentative)   "An Overview of the National Nursing Home Survey: Data from the 2004 National Nursing Home Survey" - The latest data on nursing home usage in the U.S., with an emphasis on new clinical content collected.

    bullet graphicMay 27 (tentative)  "Smoking, alcohol use, and illicit drug use reported by adolescents aged 12-17 years, 1999-2004" - This report presents national estimates for self-reported health risk behaviors including smoking, alcohol, and illicit drug use by adolescents 12 to 17 years of age.  Data come from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
