The COMET Program is publishing an online textbook titled, "Introduction to Tropical Meteorolgoy".  The chapters are coming out over time.  Below is the newest are previously released chapters.

NOTE TO NWS and other NOAA EMPLOYEES: This module is available in the
NWS Learning Center (https://doc.learn.com/noaa/nws). Please access it in that system in order to get credit.

New - Chapter 5 - Tropical Variability The chapter covers sources of intraseasonal, interannual, and decadal variability in the tropics.

COMET Program Webcasts:
1) "NWP Workshop on WRF and NAEFS", 2) "Advanced Satellite Sounding: The Benefits of the Hyperspectral Observation" and 3) "Introduction to Statistics for Climatology"
.

'Chapter 10, Tropical Cyclones', The new content covers: - Global distribution and monitoring of tropical cyclones,   -  Three-dimensional structure and flow balances,  Tropical cyclogenesis,   Intensity, including potential intensity, environmental factors, and more.

COMET Program publication of "North Wall Effects on Winds and Waves".  A three-hour module that
explores the high
wind and wave events that occur along the north edge of warm, fast, western boundary
currents, such as the Gulf Stream off the mid-Atlantic
states of the U.S. and the Kuroshio Current near
Japan and Taiwan. Using
three different case studies, this module explores the relationships between
atmospheric stability, winds, waves, and ocean currents during
North Wall events.
