Salt water anglers in ten Northeast states spent an estimated $4.5 Billion on recreational fishing equipment and fishing trips in 1998, according to a report released July 12 by the Commerce Department. The authors of the report are Scott Steinback, an economist at the NOAA Fisheries Northeast Science Center in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, and Brad Gentner, an economist at NOAA Fisheries Headquarters in Silver Springs, Maryland.
