PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Identification and Treatment of Hypothermia Related to Exposure in Cold Water

Script

This is an important message from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.  Standing or working in cold water causes rapid loss of body heat, resulting in hypothermia. Reduce the risk of hypothermia — wear high rubber boots, ensure clothing and boots are well insulated, avoid working alone, take frequent breaks out of the water, and change into dry clothing when possible.  Seek medical attention right away if you suspect hypothermia. To learn more, call 1-800-CDC-INFO.
