Careers at CIA

Contracting Officer - Senior

Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $102,721 – $133,543
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area

Work in a dynamic team environment and contribute to the success of the Agency's overall mission.
Senior-level Contracting Officers (with seven or more years of in-depth experience in Federal acquisitions) function as a senior resource providing leadership, guidance, and support. Senior Contracting Officers, required to immediately work with little or no direct guidance, are responsible for fixed price contracts as well as cost reimbursement contracts involving difficult cost and price analyses and negotiations strategies. Incumbents provide continuous oversight of complex contracts and acquisitions activities that are vital to the Agency's overall mission. A Senior Contracting Officer may be assigned supervisory responsibilities depending on the requirements of a particular contracting activity.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree, preferably in business or business-related fields such as administration, management, finance, accounting or pre-law (other fields of study will be considered on a case-by-case basis). At least seven years of "cradle-to-grave" Federal contracting experience is required. The applicant will possess strong analytic and problem-solving skills, and must have exceptional customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communications skills are required, as is willingness to perform general administrative duties.

At least seven years of experience in complex acquisitions for the US Government is required to qualify as a Senior Contracting Officer. An advanced degree in Business, Public Administration or Law; designation as a Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM), or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) experienced in Federal acquisitions; Defense Acquisitions Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification; and Intelligence Community contracting experience are desired.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.

Important Notice: Friends, family, individuals, or organizations may be interested to learn that you are an applicant for or an employee of the CIA. Their interest, however, may not be benign or in your best interest. You cannot control whom they would tell. We therefore ask you to exercise discretion and good judgment in disclosing your interest in a position with the Agency. You will receive further guidance on this topic as you proceed through your CIA employment processing.
