INFORMATION ON SALT WATER RECREATIONAL FISHING IN MEXICO

GENERAL INFORMATION

A valid Mexican salt water fishing licence is required for persons of ALL ages involved in recreational fishing in Mexican waters, fresh or salt, with few exceptions.  Additionally, if you are using a boat, a valid Mexican boat licence for fishing in Mexican waters is also required.  The definition of "boat" is quite broad and includes such things as inflatables, car top boats, dinghy or other small boats carried on another vessel, etc.  If you are in doubt as to what is or is not a boat according to Mexican law, it is recommended that you consult    with an appropriate Mexican Official.  It is important to note that all persons on such a boat must possess a Mexican fishing licence, EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT FISHING.

Mexico has various rules/regulations for recreational fishing and they are in many ways different from those applicable in United States and/or California waters.  It is important to be aware of these regulations and keep yourself informed of changes in regulations that may occur.
