     Highlights

WGA Annual Meeting
This year's meeting will focus on developing regional and global strategies for addressing the intertwined issues of energy, climate change and water. Join us and officials from the Obama Administration, international dignitaries and a host of private and public-sector leaders from around the West.


Governors urge Federal Government to Take Action on Energy and Transmission
Western Governors sent a letter to the Senate Energy committee to take constructive action that will accelerate the expansion of the electrical grid. In related letter to President Barack Obama sent last year, Western governors urged swift action in adopting and implementing a national energy plan.

Western Renewable Energy Zones
The WREZ initiative has brought together diverse interests to identify those areas in the Western Interconnection with vast, concentrated and developable renewable energy resources and with low, land-development conflicts. The information and analytical tools being developed will assist public utility commissions, energy and transmission developers, utilities and others working to bring more renewable energy online. This is a joint initiative of the WGA and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Western Governors are encouraging accelerated development and deployment of alternative transportation fuels and improved vehicle fuel efficiency.
